Some very helpful info here!  I'm still working on getting that "quality" interaction going on with my FB fans.  All my benign posts seem to get comments & likes, but my first giveaway months ago was a complete failure.  I'm trying another one now that seemed like a good idea (and others are telling me it's a good idea), but so far it's getting nooooo love.

Also getting lots of comments on my page from the forums here, but haven't really garnered any new likes since Monday.  I'd tried doing a discussion page as well for people to post their links & such, but it pretty much gets ignored in favor of the wall.

Here's hopin' I can turn this giveaway thing around!  Wish me luck!

DiaDesigns--could you help me with my Kiosk?

I'm missing something somewhere. I used the Artfire Kiosk Guide and made it all the way through Steps 1-5. I'm stuck at Step 6, adding Kiosk to your Fan Page.

When I click on the link for ...Application profile, it goes to "Pages you Admin" and it shows my two pages, but it doesn't say "add to page".

I can see the button for the Kiosk, in the list to the left, on my home/personal page, but how did you get it onto your Biz Page?

If you don't mind dropping a hint or two, I would really appreciate it.

What if I created a coupon code through ArtFire and posted that on facebook in celebration of reaching 100 (or however many) fans?  Obviously it wouldn't be as good a "prize" but more people could use it and it could always be limited to a shorter period of time.  But would it be acceptable to "advertise" that once a certain number of fans was reached that a coupon would be released?

I am a small, very small business, with very little following.  Most of what you are writing about is information for businesses that already have a following, customers, interested parties, etc.  I don't.  So how can I begin to work with what your suggestions if I have nothing to start with.  What I really signed up for was to learn how a new business, with little sales and few customers can become a profitable shop.

I'll second that Harriet! I have a facebook page but hardly any customers to interact with. I need to find and attract those potential customers. How do I do that?

Would someone be willing to Like me I really don't have much going on, just trying to figure it out.  I'd like to see what happens when someone likes me and what changes on my page.

yes gaining likes from former clients and fellow artists is great, i definitely need to figure out how to attract new faces as well... still have to read all the links provided. I find that positive social proof as a huge tool. People like to hear testimonials. But having trouble driving potential clients to FB.

I am concerned about the privacy settings. FB pages adopt your personal page security and privacy settings, right? I have all of those super private because I often talk and share photos of my family and I don't want everyone to be able to see that. Is there a way to work around this? Or am I miss interpreting the information?

BTW having fun checking out everyone's pages. Thank you for coming by mine too!

Let me start off by getting the negative out of the way: I don't like giveaways. Not all work is conducive to them.

My first question relates to something raised in the primary post; that is, to encourage clients to post on your page (for example, how they used your product). Doesn't that leave the Page open to spam (both intentional and unintentional) by everyone else?

Second Question: How can I encourage people to "Like" my page rather than trying to "friend" me? Friends are nice but friends are not necessarily peers and clients.

I am seeing the potential for being overwhelmed by the amount of work and time needed for facebook. Discussions, polls, posting, cleaning out, finding apps and so forth. Right now, my blog posts are automatically sent to both my Page and my profile. I'm thinking my next task is posting more images to my albums (or perhaps posting them more often). I am undecided about setting up a kiosk for ArtFire (as well as retaining the Etsy one).

How do people find Pages on Facebook when they are not actively seeking out an individual, anyway?

- If you find that people are spamming you, you can delete the post. You have the power to delete any on post your Facebook Page.

- People "Like" your Facebook Page, and people "Friend" your personal profile. You shouldn't give out your personal profile to customers... instead send them to your Page.

Thank-you, jolieart.  I'm new to blogging, and have started one on blogger (not directly related to my shop, though).  Does Networked Blogs app on FB give you a permanent icon or tab along your page's sidebar so visitors can click it to go to your blog, or does it only post your new blog posts to your page?

Sorry for the questions!  I just don't want to sign up for the app unless it's what I want. :-)

You're welcome! There is a blog icon that appears in your list on the left side of your page. I have mine set up to automatically post my blogger posts onto my FB page, so you can have a look if you want to see how it functions. I have to admit, I don't think I've made the best use of it, as I haven't followed and engaged with a lot of other blogs through the service. Still, it's a great way of integrating your blog so that people can easily find it.

Here's the link to the app page if you decide to add it: http://www.facebook.com/networkedblogs
