@ColorMeVintage It's my understanding that you have to use a 3rd party application, but I don't think it has to be Wildfire. What I'm not clear about is if you could do it on your blog and use networked blogs, which is a 3rd party application, to bring the info to Facebook. The guidelines are way clearer than they used to be, but still leave room for interpretation in my mind.

Wow, thanks for the link to the guidelines on promotions!! I had no idea I was breaking them. I've been doing a Topsy Turvey Tuesday giveaway where a random friend gets a coupon. I then send them a message letting them know they won and give them the coupon. From what I understand this is against the rules. So is it also against the rules to send out coupons to people on their birthday? I'm assuming so again if it is sent through a facebook message.

This is great info--I tend to sell more Thursday through Sunday, but I'm listing and promoting new products heavily on those days. I didn't know whether it was just my timing or when people happened to be on facebook.

Thank-you, jolieart.  I'm new to blogging, and have started one on blogger (not directly related to my shop, though).  Does Networked Blogs app on FB give you a permanent icon or tab along your page's sidebar so visitors can click it to go to your blog, or does it only post your new blog posts to your page?

Sorry for the questions!  I just don't want to sign up for the app unless it's what I want. :-)

Wow - I thought I knew Facebook quite well but I had't heard of 3 of the apps mentioned! Thank you for that. It's interesting being on the other side of the world (New Zealand) as I (and other NZ creative businesses I know) notice the same pattern of engagement here - 1st thing in the morning, early evening and late at night. The time difference makes it interesting if you are wanting to target both your NZ/Australian customers and your American and European customers!! One Facebook App I didn't see mentioned was 'Shop Now' this is free and creates a shop tab where you can load listings etc and displays as an attractive storefont. Thanks again, Mel

I am glad I signed up for this Boot Camp. I have been on Facebook for a good while and have had a Page set up for about a year. Just from Monday's post I gleaned a lot of things I was unaware of and have made some changes to my page and how I do some things. Today's post seems to have more great info, which I will have to look at more carefully later on...Thanks Postling and ArtFire for putting this series together.

After checking this out, am I reading this correctly regarding giveaways???

-You have to use the Promotion app on facebook
-To use the Promotion app you have to sign up with Wildfire
-Wildfire charges $5 + $0.99/day per campaign, or "giveaway"?

Isn't there a free way to do this and still be within FB rules?

With regard to Wildfire...

you can always check out the app directory on facebook...if you search around there I'm sure there are similar alternatives that are free...

you can also search under the business section in the app directory...I'm sure there are tons of business apps in general that you may be able to use...
