I started reading posts yesterday and sidetracked to FB to get the kiosk attached to my page - What an ordeal! But I muddled through and it's attached and getting comments already.
I think this boot camp will be awesome! oh, wait, it already is!

I haven't had a chance to read everything, just the OP. And I need all the help I can get with my facebook pages.

But I wanted to say that I love doing giveaways, but 95% of the people who sign up for them are my friends. Good for my friends (thanks to all my friends, love you!!!), but not for getting new fb likes/fans or attracting potential customers.  Not sure how to attract people to givewaways!!

Also, I usually run my giveaways on my blog, and post about it on facebook. not sure if that makes fb's rules less strict.

I did have a Facebook business page, but didn't know how to use it to my best advantage. This Boot Camp has really helped.

Thanks for all the info. My new FACEBOOK page had 7 fans before the boot camp started and now has 9. I thought I would get more fans quicker. I added a giveaway, but am now concerned this was against FB rules? I've taken your advice and put a Like Me link on my website. I received one post, so I replied to it. Added Yahoo Mail Signature

@ FaceValue Giveaways are not against Facebook's rules, but they do have some strict guidelines. That said, I've seen loads of people technically breaking the rules, so I'm not sure if/when it becomes a big deal for the little guy. Here's a link to FB promotion guidelines: http://www.facebook.com/promotions_guidelines.php

I did a giveaway when I got my first 100 likes. I posted at about 85 or so that when I got to 100 I would give away a piece of jewelry to one of my followers. I encouraged them to tell their friends. The winner posted her thanks on my page.

Is that now against Facebook rules?

Going to really look into the apps. Interested in the give-aways but need to figure out how I would want to do it properly. Learning a lot, really enjoying the boot camp...Thanks for all the info...

I really like facebooks question app. Its fun and easy to use. Its a great way to see what your "fans" think. Lots of great advice today. I'm going to go try it out.
