Traveling Route 66 through Wilmington, IL, you'll come upon the Gemini Giant that stands guard outside the Launching Pad Restaurant. This giant fiberglass statue is from a group of large displays originally used to promote a group of muffler shops. Up and down old Route 66 clever business owners converted these muffler men to suit their particular needs, such as this giant astronaut holding a small rocket in his arms. The concept is this, put an interesting artifact in front of your business and it would encourage passerbys to stop and take a look (and hopefully convert into a sale).
