Rainbow caterpillar glass bead with sterling silverchain .01 shipping
This bead was inspired from a tutorial by Margaret Zinser Hunt in Soda Lime Times, an e-magazine for lampworking. She is the original designer of this bead.
The bead has a core made of fine silver tubing. The jump ring and wire going through the bead are sterling silver.
The cylinder bead is made first on the mandrel. Next, the ‘body’ of the caterpillar is added and shaped if necessary. Dots, stripes and any other colors are added. The ‘sections’ of the caterpillar are made with a tool. The last item added is the head. The bead then goes into the kiln to be annealed. Annealing removes internal stress that builds up in the glass during creation.
