This adjustable handmade bracelet is an elegantly earthy combination of blue sodalite and white shell beads, clear crystal bicones, and an ornate Bali-style central eye-catcher. The sodalite beads are gemstone nuggets with a soft-edged rectangular shapes and have a color mix of dark blue shades with grayish white tones. Each sodalite bead is unique in its precise shape and hues. The shell beads (6mm and 4mm) are round, with a soft white that nicely complements the lighter tones in the gemstones. The crystals, clear Swarovski bicones (4mm), add a pretty sparkle to this combination.
At the bracelet's center is a silver-on-copper Bali-style focal that was handmade in India. Its shape is a cross between oval and diamond, with attenuated ends and a slight rise lengthwise in the middle. Its decorative quality reminds me a bit of Celtic designs; also of water symbols being traversed by stepping stones (the little knobs in the design).
Here is how the bracelet is designed. The Bali-style central bead is nestled between a pair of sterling silver rounds (3mm). Then on either side is a bead set with two sodalite nuggets bordering a pair of crystal bicones with a shell bead (6mm) in the middle. The nuggets are edged with bright silver-plated daisy spacers (TierraCast, made in the USA) and the shell bead sports small silver-plated corrugated bead caps. Next there is a small set of two shell rounds (4mm) with a crystal bicone between them. The bracelet is finished off with two more daisy spacers at either end of a sterling silver round and sterling tornado (or twist) crimp. Sterling wire guards were used for the very ends of the strand, to protect the beading wire (49-strand "Satin Silver").
The clasp used here is a medium-sized silver-plated lobster clasp. It measures around one-half inch (including its connector), which is a nice user-friendly size without being too overwhelming. The extender chain is silver tone and roughly an inch long; like the clasp, it is connected to the bracelet strand with oval TierraCast jump rings. From the chain hangs a dangle with a sodalite nugget snug between daisy spacers, with a crystal above and a sterling silver round below.
The bracelet's basic length, from lobster clasp to the connector link for the extender chain is approximately 6 3/4 inches. The chain adds an inch to this length. Please see my photos for a picture that shows a ruler measurement for both features.
All in all, this is an earthy handmade bracelet with touches of elegance that give it a lovely versatility.
