Vintage Natural A Grade Australian PINK RHODONITE Beads13mm pkg6 rb200
Vintage A grade natural rhodonite beads purchased by us in the late 1970's in Hong Kong.
These rhodonite beads are from a mine in Australia. This material was exported to China where it was cut and where we purchased it during one of our earlier buying trips for a custom order I was creating for the Smithsonian's mail order catalog and museum shops.
The cutting is superb as the standards in Asia back in the 70's -80's were so high unlike most of the stone beads which are nowadays being cut and then exported from India.
This large size bead is also almost impossible to find these days - most of what you will find will be 6mm, 8mm and perhaps 10mm if you're lucky.
The locality is a different source than where most rhodonite comes from so the color is unusual in that it is a lighter soft pink color with some traces of light brown and gray which I've tried to show in the photos. No two beads are exactly alike because this is a natural material.
Rhodonite is usually always a robust rose-pink hue mottled and streaked with intricate black cobwebs, veined with hard lines and strong patterns. Rhodonite, after all, is a silicate, and silicates collectively are among the harder and tougher of mineral species.
It derives its color from the atoms of manganese that represent one of its essential components. Although this mineral forms excellent crystals in various localities, it is chiefly known as a dense, solid, massive material, excellent for carvings, cabochons and tiles. South Africa, Russia, Australia and Brazil are notable among world sources.
Rhodonite can occur as a solid pink material minus any black manganese oxide inclusions as in these beads which were specifically selected by us for this reason , but more often it forms a dense, almost granular aggregate displaying infinitely varying black patterns.Though varying in saturation from light to dark, the hue of rhodonite is always constant - pink.
Price is for 6 of these lovely approximately 13mm vintage beads which have a beautiful polish to them as you can see in the photos and which we 100% guarantee to be vintage natural Australian rhodonite from the 1970's if not earlier.

ORDERS INSIDE USA: A charge of $4.00 covers any first class shipment up to 15 ounces. Our beads vary so much in weight that it is impossible for us to apply a single add-on charge for multiple product orders. We will continue to refund to customers any amount that greatly exceeds our actual cost of shipping and handling.
ORDERS OUTSIDE USA: International First Class rates are now crazy: $16.50 for any package weighing from 1-5 ounces. Even an order for 2-3 small bead items may cost $16.50 or more, depending on the type of material (stone versus resin, for example). We apologize in advance if we have to adjust the postage cost of an order that has been placed. We will understand if an order is rescinded when the postage cost is too high relative to the product value.
All international orders have contents described as "loose beads" and are flagged as "commercial samples" or " gift" if you prefer to make your life easier when receiving your beads. If you'd like us to mark your order as " gift" instead please let us know!
All our beads are inspected one by one before being shipped. They are individually wrapped to protect them and then put in little plastic ziploc bags.

Love my beads! The coloring in the epidote was not as intense as illustrated, but it is certainly a good example of the mineral. The colors in the unakite beads are wonderful. The quality of the carving I would rate as good to excellent.
Nice beads!! Super fast thanks a lot!!!
I have dreamed of having a necklace such as the jade one. But the red one. That was a surprise. Both are beautiful. Thank you! Best, Jane
Lovely color;!interesting stones.
When I thought that I had ordered two of these and then checked out I had to order another set. The seller was very kind and combined my two orders and refunded my shipping.
