Vintage Lapis Lazuli AA Grade Bead Necklace, Vintage Red Carnelian, Vintage Japanese 1970s Blue Millefiori Glass,Gold
Vintage AA grade natural lapis lazuli stone beads, Vintage Carnelian Beads,Vintage Japanese Blue teardrop millefiori glass beads, gold filled beads
Gorgeous 8mm natural midnight blue lapis has been combined with vintage 8mm deep orange carnelian beads - both of these semiprecious stone beads pick up the colors in the beautiful Japanese vintage teardrop millefiori glass beads.
► All the stone beads which I use were personally selected by me in Hong Kong during the 1970s-1980s when the standards of cutting were meticulous. Nowadays, stone beads are being cut and imported from India where the labor is cheap, the beads are not always perfectly round, nor do they have an even polish and many times they are not even drilled all the way through .
◉ FOR COORDINATED BLUE MILLEFIORI Glass Bead Earrings:
►Millifiori' literally means “thousand flowers”. To make such beads, thin rods of different colors of glass are bundled together, with the ends of the rods forming a design, such as flowers. The bundle is fused together, then cross section slices are cut off, jelly-roll fashion. These slices are applied and melted over a glass core. The resulting bead has a three dimensional look filled with flowers or other patterns.◀
►Revered by ancient civilizations and prized more highly than gold, lapis has an unrivaled and unbroken record as a precious commodity that has endured more than 7,000 years. Ancient caravan routes have been traced across the middle east from the original sources in Afghanistan across the kingdoms of Mesopotamia and Assyria to the royal courts of Sumer and Egypt. Lapis was used in jewelry, regal objects and the most sacred of religious rituals; it was even a component of the Breastplate of the High Priest, one of 12 stones symbolically representing the ancient tribes of Israel. Lapis is actually not a mineral, but a rock, made up of a collection of minerals that give it texture and variety. The gold flecks are the mineral pyrite (sometimes known as "fools' gold") and the white spots are calcite. The finest lapis comes from Afghanistan but more recent finds have been made in such unlikely places as Chile, Colorado and Siberia.
This necklace was part of my original " Beadles" collection of the 1980s and was actually sold in the Smithsonian's museum shops and Holiday mail order catalog during this time period.
It measures approximately 28" long and has been hand knotted on silk cord which I have dyed deep blue to match the lapis beads.
Vintage gold filled beads in both a 5mm size and a 7mm ribbed spacer add more texture and a bit of sparkle.
▶ This necklace will arrive gift wrapped in a lovely vintage Chinese embroidered silk brocade purse all ready for gift giving

Love my beads! The coloring in the epidote was not as intense as illustrated, but it is certainly a good example of the mineral. The colors in the unakite beads are wonderful. The quality of the carving I would rate as good to excellent.
Nice beads!! Super fast thanks a lot!!!
I have dreamed of having a necklace such as the jade one. But the red one. That was a surprise. Both are beautiful. Thank you! Best, Jane
Lovely color;!interesting stones.
When I thought that I had ordered two of these and then checked out I had to order another set. The seller was very kind and combined my two orders and refunded my shipping.
