Vintage 1970s Chinese Orange Cloisonne ,Chinese Cinnabar Bead Earrings
Vintage 1970s Chinese orange oval cinnabar beads, Vintage Chinese 1970s cinnabar orange cloisonne beads, blue white flowers, handmade rose copper elongated french ear wires.
Rare vintage cinnabar beads in a burnt orange color and slightly oval in shape have been paired with equally rare vintage Chinese deep cinnabar orange cloisonne beads from the 1970s - a time period in which cloisonne was produced in China by meticulous craftsmen with great attention to detail. There is no blurring of color and the attention to detail is remarkable - not like the contemporary cloisonne being produced in China and exported nowadays.
Each bead is approximately 10mmx 12mm ( there are 25mm to the inch so each bead is approximately 1/2" in length ) and unlike most cinnabar beads, these beads are not round but more of an oval shape. The meticulous hand .carving on them is exquisite!
I personally selected these beads when I was actively designing for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History museum shops and mail order catalogs.
►Genuine cinnabar beads are made from a lacquer which is derived from a tree sap found in China. The tree is tapped like a maple and the resulting gum is purified by heating and then made into lacquer by adding a solvent. This resulting lacquer is slowly added in many layers over a wood base. The lacquer can be colored in various hues including black, red, green, yellow and brown although most people are only aware of the red cinnabar.
These cloisonne beads are approximately 16mm ( about 5/8" in diameter ) and the cinnabar beads are 3/8" in width and 1/4" in length.
Ornate copper bead caps separate the 2 vintage beads and these earring have been finished on handmade rose copper 1" long elongated french ear wires which I have used to compliment the colors in the 2 vintage Chinese beads.
Total length of these earrings ( including the handmade copper ear wire ) is approximately 2".
They will arrive in a little box all ready for gift giving.

Love my beads! The coloring in the epidote was not as intense as illustrated, but it is certainly a good example of the mineral. The colors in the unakite beads are wonderful. The quality of the carving I would rate as good to excellent.
Nice beads!! Super fast thanks a lot!!!
I have dreamed of having a necklace such as the jade one. But the red one. That was a surprise. Both are beautiful. Thank you! Best, Jane
Lovely color;!interesting stones.
When I thought that I had ordered two of these and then checked out I had to order another set. The seller was very kind and combined my two orders and refunded my shipping.
