It is said if you give your lover a Moonstone when the moon is full you will always have passion with each other. Moonstone is a highly valued gemstone for its many positive energies.
A very personal stone, it is a reflection of the person who owns it.
I handforged 18ga. copper wire to form this pin. The Moonstone is on a ss. paddle pin with 2mm,3mm,and 4mm copper beads.
All my pins are hand forged from a straight piece of copper and the point of the pins has been filed and smoothed so that it will not catch on the fabric.

10-mm Rainbow Moonstone (natural), hand-cut faceted round, B grade.
Mohs hardness 6 to 6-1/2.
There is no treatment known which enhances moonstone quality.
The copper wire used in this pin is in it's natural form and has not been treated with waxes or sprays.
Copper naturally oxidizes over time and develops a patina. Some people love that look and some prefer to keep it shiny.
To keep them shiny, soak in vinegar. It does not take long, you can just about see it change as you watch. When they are shiny again, rinse and dry.

Moonstone has been used as jewelry for centuries, including ancient civilizations. The Romans admired moonstone, as they believed it was born from solidified rays of the moon. Both the Romans and Greeks associated Moonstone with their lunar gods and goddesses. In more recent history, the moonstone became popular during the Art Nouveau. French goldsmith, René Lalique and many others created a large quantity of jewellery using the moonstone.a The more transparent the moonstone, the more valuable it is.

MMoonstone owes its name to the white, almost magical shimmer that resembles moonshine. Blue-whitish light glides over the surface when the stone is cut cabochon. Gemologists call this phenomena adularescence, which originates from the interior structure of the gemstone in scales or lamellas. Incoming rays of light are refracted inside the stone and scattered, creating a unique play of light, which makes Moonstone so special and coveted. Moonstone is the most well known potassium feldspar of the orthoclase species. A combination of orthoclase and albite arranged in layers cause the lovely sheen. Moonstone is fairly soft, 6-6.5 (Mohs scale) and sensitive to pressure.
