I ate a shadow at noon
the high of the sun broke me
down
on the side of the road
I was coming for you, I was
count the drops of meaning in my blood
tears of sand
oil stained hands
gripping the steering wheel
won't go, not moving now
just mourning in solo
count the drops of meaning in my blood
it's an old fashioned love
want to stroke your hair, feed you grapes
hear about your pillage
it's an age old love want to stroke your hair
feed you grapes
talk about your life, your wife, your village
I ate a shadow at noon
the high of the sun broke me
down
on the side of this thing
I used to call it love now I don't know what's happening
If I cry to the ocean she comes for me
if I cry to the moon he runs from me
it's an old fashioned love wanna stroke your hair
an age old love, want to
it's an old fashioned love wanna stroke your hair, wanna
.... count the drops
of meaning in your blood
'SOLO' original composition, music recording, and lyrics © Jenelle Aubade 2014-2017 Happy Rebel Records LLC
Excerpt from an artist interview by Soundclick:
A poetic lyrical writer, Jenelle Aubade began penning songs back in the 1990's to the piano, and soon after to guitar. With a catalog of hundreds of originals and a few beloved tributes she performs live as a solo artist and also accompanied by professional musicians from around the globe depending on the venue.
Music is a lifelong passion, and Jenelle has fine tuned hers to paint a picture in the mind and evoke an emotional response, with soulful sweet singing and unique fingerpicking styles, rhythm and lyric arrangements.
“Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?”
A couple recent performances to mention are my sets at the Hotel California main stage in Baja, Mexico during the 2019 & 2020 Tropic of Cancer Concert Series music festivals and performing a set at the luxurious Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo. Also opening with a few songs at the 2018 'She Folks' segment of the TCCS fest in Baja in front of Joan Osborne was a thrill. The TCCS Fest hosts a unique mix of talent including some very prestigious acts from Nashville, USA, presented by the band the Cordovas.
“Tell me about your influences.”
Early musical influences, after 70's rock and folk which are plentiful and continue to inspire today, are new wave into alternative, starting with Depeche Mode, The Cure, Yaz, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, New Order later merging into Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, Elliott Smith, and in more recent years Alt -J, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Marlon Williams, The Cordovas, Aldous Harding, so many more, this is just basics off the top of the mind. I also thrill to classical music and unique instruments!
“What equipment do you use?”
Korg keyboards, a Yamaha acoustic/electric classical nylon string guitar, looper.
