Jump Ring Soldering Kit---NOW AVAILABLE With Lead-Free Silver-Bearing
Most people don't have the equipment or experience to do torch soldering, so we put together a kit to make the job incredibly easy, fast and safe. There is no flame, flux or dangerous gas involved, you are using a plug-in electric soldering iron with a pencil-point tip and a special silver-bearing fine wire solder. No real clean-up is necessary after you solder, just wipe the finished piece with a dampened cloth and you are done. Soldering a jump ring takes approx. 5 seconds or less. We provide you with a "third hand" to hold the piece you are soldering, the 110v/30 watt soldering iron, and two small coils of the special very thin solder wire (enough for HUNDREDS of soldered rings) as well as simple step by step instructions. Works great on most metals (silver, gold-filled, copper, brass, most gold-and-silver plated, etc.), but not aluminum or stainless steel. If you are unsure what your metal is, try attracting it with a strong magnet. If it attracts, it is iron, steel or stainless steel (probably stainless).
NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NECESSARY to achieve great results very quickly. Replacement special solder wire, including LEAD-FREE,is always available through us. My written instructions and the photos above will help you get started properly soldering jump rings .
PLEASE NOTE: There is currently NO gold-colored low temp. solder on the market that can be used with an electric soldering iron. However, when you use this kit, solder and technique the solder joint should be only a very thin silver-colored line and barely visible. I have many customers who use this on their gold-filled and plated items and are completely happy with the results.
* I now have the replacement pencil-point tips for these and other similar soldering irons of 30 watts, as well as the replacement solder wire. The listings for them appear elsewhere in my shop.
** In the "OPTIONS" box above you can order your kit with your choice of TWO sizes of LEAD-FREE silver-bearing solder wires, 0.015" (27 gauge) or 0.023" (23 gauge), as well as my leaded silver-bearing solder wire which I've supplied in the kit for the last 25 years or so. Generally speaking, the 0.015" wire would be used when greatest precision, least solder and smallest jump rings are the issues. IF YOU ARE UNSURE which size lead-free solder to order, you can now order the option ".015" & .023" NL", That will give you one coil of each to try out. With the optional lead-free solder the kits cost a little more, but not much considering you'll eliminate any exposure to lead products.
Always employ appropriate care when handling or using solder or other materials that contain any level of lead.
This soldering kit and its component parts are not toys, and are not intended to be used by children, unless under the supervision of an adult.
