Fine silver bead (root beer color) with 18" sterling silver chain
Details
How these beads are made:
To make the glass bead, I heat the glass rod with a torch until it is molten and the consistency of thick honey. Then it is wrapped around a steel mandrel and shaped. If a cubic zirconia stone is to be added, using a tungsten poker, I poke a hole into the bead and then very carefully, set the stone into the depression. A small portion of clear glass is melted over the stone. After this, the fine silver wire is wrapped around the bead and slowly heated so it melts. The bead then goes into the kiln to be annealed. Annealing removes internal stress that builds up in the glass during creation.
The chain with these beads is sterling silver and the 2 mm beads on the chain nicely complement the silver in the bead. The chain is also available in 16" or 20".
