This deep blue gemstone reminds me of dark blue jeans or better yet a great navy suit.

Dumortierite is a fibrous variably colored aluminium boro-silicate mineral.  The Dumortierite crystals are vitreous and vary in color from brown, blue, and green to more rare violet and pink. Substitution of iron and other tri-valent elements for aluminium result in the color variations.

Dumortierite was first described in 1881 for an occurrence in Chaponost, in the Rhône-Alps of France and named for the French paleontologist Eugene Dumortier (1803–1873). It typically occurs in high temperature aluminum rich regional metamorphic rocks.

Sources of Dumortierite include Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Madagascar, Namibia, Nevada, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sri Lanka.

Dumortierite is said to help you to stabilize your emotions, promote accomplishments, positive attitude, courage, trust, harmony, and helps us cope with panic and fear.  It enhances organizational abilities, including precision, self discipline and the ability to organize. Helps us become more businesslike, systematic, tidy and methodical.  Dumortierite also highly reduces difficulties of scattered mind and disorganization.  This enhancement is believed to be due to the effect it can have of balancing the throat Chakra and enhancing communication between lower chakras (physical energy) and the higher chakras (mental and spiritual energy).

Dumortierite aids healing in the areas of nausea, vomiting, cramps, colic, diarrhea, skin irritations, epilepsy, headaches and addictions by releasing toxins from the body.
