Photo Studios

I recently purchased a photo cube for taking pictures of my fabric covered button items and other creations I dive into.  The photo cube I purchased off Ebay and it was quite cheap, $11 bucks.  There were some elaborate photo studios on there and eventually I may invest in a better system.  But for now this one will have to do.  I've used it to shoot the multi-colored ring I have posted on here.  Not bad I guess.  As I experiment more with it I'll let you know how it does.  I always photograph my items in front of my french door.  Natural light is by far the best lighting when photographing items.  What are your ... » Read More

A Picture is Worth a a Thousand Words, or Maybe a Thousand Dollars?

When I started delving into making my jewelry I had no idea that I needed to be a professional photography too.  I haven't sold enough jewelry, yet, to get me a SLR camera but I recently purchased a Nikon Coolpix.  It doesn't do bad.  The only trouble I'm having with it is when I shoot my items in my photo box, which is white, it turns the background to gray.  On my next trip to Hobby Lobby I'm going to purchase some linen-like scrapbook paper and line my photo cube with it to see if that will help.  When I look at items on Artfire that I want to buy the first thing I look at is the picture.   But I have learned a lot ... » Read More

Good Saturday morning!

I've been working on adding some new ID badge reels to my Artfire shop. Today was going to be spent photographing the ID badge reels but it's very dark outside due to the rain here in southern Indiana.  I have found photographing to be best in bright sunlight, so maybe tomorrow. Today I will spend getting some Christmas shopping done. Stay tuned, I'll get those new ID badge reels loaded soon! Thanks for looking in on JeJeweled!Jema... » Read More

Rainy Days

On this rainy Tuesday afternoon I'm sitting near my Christmas tree with a cup of hot tea, two beagles on my lap and researching ways to get my shop noticed. So many times I hear about SEO (search engine optimization) but have yet to find a book or infographic on this subject. I know keywords and titles of items are very important for Google. But what is the secret or is there a secret? Anyone have any recommendations? If so, please feel free to share them here. I'd love to hear from all who have mastered this skill. Until next time...Jema... » Read More

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog. As I continue to grow my shop here on ArtFire I'll also try to post on this blog frequently. I offer many different items in my shop both fabric covered button items and bottle cap items. I just recently started featuring typewriter key jewelry too. I love being creative and hope you love my items as much as I do.I started JeJeweled three years ago with the encouragement of my husband, Mike. Mike is a gourd artist and he would be working on his art pieces and I would sit and watch or try to help him with the cleaning of the gourds. That's when I decided I needed something to do with my hands. I've always been a fan of handma... » Read More
