Get to Know

TRT Tomahawks started in 1982 when my two step-brothers and I decided to try to sell the throwing tomahawks we were making. My last name is Rankin, and their last initial is T, so we came up with TRT. I would always be in the middle, and they could each be first, depending on who was telling the story :). Our little sideline didn't amount to much, and the two step-brothers both moved on to better careers. I kept the name and continued to make tomahawks for sale at local events and festivals. Soon my son joined me in the shop. We have now taken the leap to the internet with our shop here at ArtFire.

All our products are handmade in our small shop in New Holland, Illinois. Each product finely crafted by me and my family. We are proud to put our name on our products.

We have several different tomahawk designs to choose from. Each one is designed for throwing. Blades are thin high carbon steel, hardened to hold a good edge yet be very durable. The thin blades penetrate the target easily so you can focus on accuracy rather than velocity. Handles are made from hickory sourced in the Midwest United States. Each handle is hand turned with a slight taper for smooth release. The sides are flattened for easy control when throwing.

Remember, my products are all handmade in our small family shop in the USA!
